John P Weigand

John P. Weigand, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA

Dr. John P. Weigand is the founder and director of audiology for Liberty Hearing Centers. Dr. Weigand has been practicing in the field of audiology for 15 years. As a native of Queens, Dr. Weigand is a graduate of Archbishop Molloy High School and Queens College. After graduating from college, Dr. Weigand excelled at St. John’s University, completing his Master of Arts program, and furthered his education by attaining a doctorate in clinical audiology from the University of Florida.

Dr. Weigand completed his practicum training at the Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Prior to earning his New York state audiology and hearing instrument dispensing licenses, Dr. Weigand completed his clinical fellowship at the Long Island College Hospital, where he received extensive training in pediatric audiology, including fitting hearing-impaired children with hearing devices and collaborating with surgeons in the operating room during cochlear implant procedures.

During his career, Dr. Weigand has become an active member in the community by providing educational seminars at various venues, offering free hearing screenings, participating on local televised medical programs, and submitting a number of articles to local newspapers. Dr. Weigand was recognized by the Fort Greene Council for outstanding community service in 2010. A great achievement of his is the creation of the resident training program, where he has mentored and helped future audiologists become strong clinicians.

Dr. Weigand has been the chief audiologist at Downstate Medical Center since 2000 and is well recognized by the greater Brooklyn community. Additionally, Dr. Weigand is a New York state-registered hearing aid dispenser and a proud member of the American Academy of Audiology, the New York Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
